One Way of really knowing what is going on
Suppose you would know a stock price is heading up. In that case it would be easy to allocate the bigger portion of your portfolio to that stock alone and ride the wave. Unfortunately knowing where a stock is heading is everybody´s guess. Nobody really knows but there is a little bit more to it. Let´s say you want to know which garden tool manufacturer is the best. The easiest way to find out is not to look at their balance sheet but to look at what your neighbors are using. If 10 neighbors all use the same brand the tool manufacturer obviously did something right. The way to find out is by looking around you and seeing for yourself what other people are using.
This can be done on the internet as well. There are several sites out there, providing social “making your mind up” functionality.
One we really like is Piqqem where you can select a positive or negative outlook and you don´t have to sign in to do just that. It than gives you a crowd sentiment but it also gives you an activity level so you can see how many people are active in that sentiment. The whole sentiment approach doesn´t make any sense if there are not enough people attending.
Give it a try!
